Luke Walton

Sr. Marketing Manager
Amazon

Luke Walton is an Amazon AI Bar Raiser and winner of the company's 2025 "Bias for Action" Award, deploying GenAI across 20 geographic markets. As a Senior Marketing Manager, he won AWS's Bedrock Data Chunking Challenge, outperforming 100+ engineers and expanding his expertise beyond marketing into machine learning, RAG systems, Jupyter Notebooks, and software development.

His career traces a consistent pattern: identifying transformative technology early. At Google X, he helped launch Google Glass to enterprise customers and developers. During his MBA, in partnership with U.S. Indo-Pacific Command and Qualcomm, he developed wearable technology for field medics. At NAMM, he led a marketing team that welcomed 100,000+ attendees to The NAMM Show and delivered $8M in critical revenue recovery post-pandemic. Each role prepared him to recognize GenAI not as hype, but as a fundamental platform shift to manage carefully at a rapid pace.

Today at Amazon, Luke orchestrates agentic marketing systems, deploys AWS Partyrock solutions featured in company-wide engineering blogs, and manages 8-figure global paid media budgets delivering 1B+ annual impressions. He also teaches GenAI implementation.

A lifelong musician with hundreds of millions of streams and releases on SubPop, Sony Japan, Armada Music, Indiemono, and Beformer, Luke lives in San Diego with his wife Merissa and their dog, Bobson Dugnutt. You'll often find him in Japan, practicing the language and enjoying the hot springs.

Keynote Panel: AI Maturity in 2026: Building and Enabling the Modern Marketing Team

As AI moves from experimentation to everyday execution, marketing teams are grappling with what genuine maturity actually looks like and the answer is more nuanced than tool adoption. Moderated by Katelyn Brower (First Advantage), this panel brings together Patricia Clark (Nexxen), Luke Walton (Amazon), and Dr. Sharmin Attaran (Bryant University) to unpack what it truly means to level up as an AI-enabled marketing organization in 2026. From moving beyond basic LLM use to connecting systems and automating end-to-end workflows, panelists share where teams are today, where the real gaps are, and what it takes to build lasting competitive advantage when everyone has access to the same tools.

The conversation goes deep on the organizational realities of AI adoption, how to build both bottom-up curiosity and top-down support, what guardrails are needed as agentic AI inches closer to operational, and how to make a credible business case when measurement is still catching up to execution. Panelists also tackle brand differentiation in the age of AI-generated content, visibility in AI-driven search, and whether teams should hire dedicated AI specialists or double down on upskilling the marketers they already have.

Key Takeaways:

  • What AI maturity actually looks like in practice and why most teams are further behind than they think
  • The organizational conditions that determine whether AI adoption succeeds or stalls
  • How leading teams are thinking about agentic AI and where the real risks lie when things go wrong
  • Where competitive advantage actually lives when everyone is using the same tools to produce content at scale
  • How to approach brand visibility as AI-driven search continues to reshape how customers discover products
  • What separates marketing teams that are pulling ahead from those falling further behind and what you can do about it
